6th sens technology: a new way of interacting with devices and applications.

Through a colleague from work, I came across a video from the TED India where Pranav Mistry (about 13 min long) presents his research and impressive results on 6th sense technology. This technology allows to control computing devices and their applications through intuitive gestures.

The video is really worth watching:

Poor little blogger that I am, I shudder when Google unveils new tool but this looks like the start of a true revolution. This will change really our way of life and make technology more accessible in general but also to elderly and disabled people. Especially since this genius says he wants to make this technology accessible to the masses (he said it will be open sourced code but at the moment I am talking it is not the case yet). He uses existant and cheap devices (example of the computer mouse) to create the new ones with. Eventually they will become totally non invasive.

And coupled with voice recognition then? Well, yes me too I guess.
And what about gaming? (about innovation in gaming you can also see my previous post on aWOW and the brain computer interaction)

Meanwhile and to get a little taste of what will happen in the future you can find a consolation (especially for the lucky owners of smartphones) in Google Goggles released this week. Indeed it gives the opportunity to explore the visual recognition (as also presented by Pranav Mistry). For sure we will find more and more potential use after use.
